Biography of the Program Coordinator
Hilary EWANG NGIDE is a dynamic midlevel holistic development and biodiversity conservation professional. He hails from the Kupe Muanenguba Division of Cameroon where he completed primary and secondary education within tropical rainforest settings. Having lived and survived in these forest zones, he adopted environmentally friendly lifestyles which motivated him to study Geography and Environmental management for his undergraduate degree.
Upon completion from the University of Buea in 2007, Hilary started voluntary service at Community Action for Development, a grassroot biodiversity conservation organization where he was part many rainforest and wildlife conservation projects in partnership with the Rufford Small grants Fund, GEF, and the People’s Trust for Endangered Species (PTES -UK).
After years of voluntary services (2004 – 2008) across different landscapes for integrated biodiversity conservation and livelihood activities, Hilary operationalized Centre for Community Regeneration and Development (CCREAD-Cameroon) in 2008, a nonprofit organization he founded in 2006 while at the University. From 2008 to present, Hilary has led more than 26 rainforest protection and regeneration, wildlife conservation and research, and climate change and sustainable livelihoods projects across Cameroon.
Over the last twelve years, he has planned, coordinated and evaluated simple and complex projects and managing at least 26 project team members annually. He has visited more than 100 countries for professional exchanges, trainings, research and has also served as a grants assessor for French IUCN-PPI-FFEM program.
Hilary has also served as a Country Coordinator for a Swiss donor agency (Informatik Fur Afrika) and mentored more than 20 young organizations across Cameroon, Africa and Asia. He has successfully initiated partnerships and managed programs successfully with agencies such as the European Commission, Cool Earth, IUCN, United Nations Development Program, UNESCO, UN development Fund of Switzerland, and network of Universities, local and international organizations.
