The Green Communities Initiative is Rise For Nature’s flagship environmental restoration campaign dedicated to reversing deforestation, restoring degraded landscapes, strengthening climate resilience, and empowering communities to become active stewards of their natural environment.
Across Cameroon and many parts of Africa, forests are disappearing at an alarming rate due to unsustainable agricultural practices, illegal logging, rapid urbanization, bushfires, and the growing impacts of climate change. As forests disappear, biodiversity declines, water sources become threatened, soil fertility is reduced, and communities become increasingly vulnerable to food insecurity, poverty, and climate-related disasters.
The Green Communities Initiative was created to address these challenges through practical, community-driven solutions that combine environmental conservation with sustainable development. We believe that lasting environmental change is only possible when local communities are equipped with the knowledge, resources, and opportunities to protect and restore the ecosystems they depend on.
Working alongside community leaders, farmers, women, youth groups, schools, local authorities, and development partners, we implement integrated restoration projects that improve environmental health while creating economic opportunities and strengthening community resilience.

What We Do
